student designer sucks

time for rants, it’s been a while isn’t it?!
so you can totally skip this post if you want; i doubt there’d be photos
i’m kinda being emotional at this point
don’t mind me
being a student designer is such an unfair world. students are soooo wayy being tooo much exploited. it’s soo horrible that i feel like screaming into the conscience of those people. it’s such a disappointment in humanity here… second week of school since the summer holidays, catching up with classmates etc etc; learning about what happened to them during the holidays or during their internships…
HA; i’d say 50% are complains about how bad/ridiculous their internships had been, including mine of course.
in fact, i’m quite surprised, the french claim that it’s a country of laws… but why isn’t there a law that protects students?!
If i were to suggest a riot for unpaid student internships, i think i will have a lot of supporters
but HA- as if i’d really do that, just kidding.
being a student designer sucks big time. you can’t give an official bill, cuz you are not an official professional
so either you DON’T get paid for projects or getting 20~50% of the original amount IF you’re lucky. Worse part of it, student internships are mostly compulsory in almost any courses. Yet, students don’t get paid… it’s basically free labour. Unless your internship lasts 3months, then the chances of getting paid is higher, but the wages are still totally too low to cover your living fees.
i’ve got a lucky friend, who got paid for working for 2months. her awesome company even provides lunch cheques! and she’s always sooo happy working in her company. of cuz, if i were her, i’d be maddd excited too! her projects were always sooo interesting and fun. so whenever we meet up for lunch during our internships- i’d be soo envious.
Plainly spending the money on transport, and sometimes food, i think whatever i spent could easily hit 200€ even without eating out everyday! I probably only ate at most ONCE a week in a restaurant.
i suppose that you’d have to call it, LUCK
then another buddy shared her experience…her boss is actually one of our school teachers. apparently, this boss’s way of how internships work is totally horrible. this boss ONLY accept TALENTED/BEST GRADES students for their internship. why?! because they are totally capable of handling a full commercial project themselves from A to Z! End of their internship, be it 1 month or 2 months, what did the student get? ONE FREAKING BOOK! An artbook/design book of some sort. Where they’d pick the mosttt expensive one possible. So far, the most expensive book i know would be the Louis Vuitton book at 114€ at amazon! HA
Another less optimistic point would be that some bosses love to constantly remind their dear students that they are students, where they have to listen to these absolute orders. Like me, constantly suggesting me to clean their windows?! HA; sometimes they love to joke, sometimes you hear the “order” tone in it. But obviously i didn’t do it, i’m there as a designer, not a cleaner!
You might consider that students can gain experience etc, but if you take another point of view, how much would a full project cost? The boss themselves are probably earning 2000-5000€ because of your own work?! what would be 100€ when all the boss need to do is to sit at his/her own table and nod or shakes his/her head when you submit your proposal?! Besides, it’s not like the boss is living so poorly who needs help to help his/her own electric/water bills at home?! They looked more like people who are living comfortably.. Unlike some students who could be struggling weekly on what to eat so as not to starve to save up the money to pay their apartment rentals or the freaking expensive school fees?! What would 500€ be those richer people when they can help someone?!
Well then, count the richer kids out if they wanna argue. Aish.. and the part where you can’t get acknowledged for your work.
WHATEVER.. i’m NEVER GONNA WORK IN ANY COMPANIES IN FRANCE for internship anymore. things are kinda like so damn crappy here. I MUST find a company in Singapore, even if they give me some crappy work like image extracting to do, AT LEAST I GET PAID! It helps to cover my transport fees as well as food!
Speaking of transport, hella pissed of the trains lately, closed tracks lead to bus replacement which makes me LATE FOR SCHOOL OF CUZ! Or not, stuck in the middle of no where for 15-30mins before reaching another station!
On a lighter note, I’m loving homin’s new TONE album as well as JYJ’s In Heaven
I refuse to call them DBSK now
I wish i’d be able to buy both albums, but oh well, i guess it’d take a while.
HA; ladies, gents, if you’re too bored at home, I highly recommend korean drama Protect the Boss
It’s totally hilarious which is soo difficult to resist bursting out laughing on the train! And when i burst out laughing at home, my mother started shouting at me

HAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAAA!
whose thoughts left....
