0 heart; TWG – 24th Aug
filed under: Yummiliscious Thursday, 29th September @ 11:19PM

weee! imma continue with my outdated posts! i just have to blog about these events! in case i ever forgot myself :X
After a luxurious night; time for high tea! LOL Jean wanted to try out their macaroons :) And ever since i went back to singapore, i noticed some TWG boutiques while touring.

their teas tastes amazing. the sweetness, the fragrances… etc; just amplifies the power of “being on holiday”, LOL
but then since it’s called high tea, it’s rather expensive. S$12 per teapot, per person.. i think that it’d be a once a month experience. And S$36 a box! I don’t know how many cups/pots of tea can you make with that 1 little box, but it was way too expensive for my to splurge on -.-

Their macaroons! actually we kinda got scolded for photographing their food/interior etc, until we said that we would be eating in. -.-

Mooncakes! Festival was around the corner, i think they are those snow-skin types. Though until now, i’ve never tasted snow-skin (冰臂 ) mooncakes

And their pastries. I was more for their pastries instead :)

dear jean :)

dear me! LOL

their beautiful utensils!!! ;) Soo much gold ;) Everything just bling around at you…

My gourmand plate while Jean and Linmin only took 2 macaroons each! The ice cream is mad awesome!!! it has some tea taste, i think it’s the maison-fait ice cream flavor with their brews! Definitely won’t hesitate to go back again!

P.S I just realized, macaroons = english / macarons = french; LOL because of the auto-corrector?!

Playing with reflections again! You can’t really resist that when there’s three of these pots shining in front of you :) HEH!

Their service is very good too, they pay attention to every tiny detail. Maybe a bit too good; HA; especially whenever my tea is finished, when i had to pour myself, the waiter would come over and pour for me. It was quite awkward once, cuz it felt as though i couldn’t do anything ;X Like some sort of misconduct or something.
And after finding out that Jean’s a huge macaroon lover, he offered two macaroons for us to try! HA :) Nice service overall :)

0 heart; student designer sucks
filed under: Journal Wednesday, 28th September @ 11:23PM

time for rants, it’s been a while isn’t it?!
so you can totally skip this post if you want; i doubt there’d be photos
i’m kinda being emotional at this point YADA don’t mind me :/

being a student designer is such an unfair world. students are soooo wayy being tooo much exploited. it’s soo horrible that i feel like screaming into the conscience of those people. it’s such a disappointment in humanity here… second week of school since the summer holidays, catching up with classmates etc etc; learning about what happened to them during the holidays or during their internships…

HA; i’d say 50% are complains about how bad/ridiculous their internships had been, including mine of course.
in fact, i’m quite surprised, the french claim that it’s a country of laws… but why isn’t there a law that protects students?! =_= If i were to suggest a riot for unpaid student internships, i think i will have a lot of supporters >^< but HA- as if i’d really do that, just kidding.

being a student designer sucks big time. you can’t give an official bill, cuz you are not an official professional -.- so either you DON’T get paid for projects or getting 20~50% of the original amount IF you’re lucky. Worse part of it, student internships are mostly compulsory in almost any courses. Yet, students don’t get paid… it’s basically free labour. Unless your internship lasts 3months, then the chances of getting paid is higher, but the wages are still totally too low to cover your living fees.

i’ve got a lucky friend, who got paid for working for 2months. her awesome company even provides lunch cheques! and she’s always sooo happy working in her company. of cuz, if i were her, i’d be maddd excited too! her projects were always sooo interesting and fun. so whenever we meet up for lunch during our internships- i’d be soo envious.
Plainly spending the money on transport, and sometimes food, i think whatever i spent could easily hit 200€ even without eating out everyday! I probably only ate at most ONCE a week in a restaurant.
i suppose that you’d have to call it, LUCK

then another buddy shared her experience…her boss is actually one of our school teachers. apparently, this boss’s way of how internships work is totally horrible. this boss ONLY accept TALENTED/BEST GRADES students for their internship. why?! because they are totally capable of handling a full commercial project themselves from A to Z! End of their internship, be it 1 month or 2 months, what did the student get? ONE FREAKING BOOK! An artbook/design book of some sort. Where they’d pick the mosttt expensive one possible. So far, the most expensive book i know would be the Louis Vuitton book at 114€ at amazon! HA
Another less optimistic point would be that some bosses love to constantly remind their dear students that they are students, where they have to listen to these absolute orders. Like me, constantly suggesting me to clean their windows?! HA; sometimes they love to joke, sometimes you hear the “order” tone in it. But obviously i didn’t do it, i’m there as a designer, not a cleaner!

You might consider that students can gain experience etc, but if you take another point of view, how much would a full project cost? The boss themselves are probably earning 2000-5000€ because of your own work?! what would be 100€ when all the boss need to do is to sit at his/her own table and nod or shakes his/her head when you submit your proposal?! Besides, it’s not like the boss is living so poorly who needs help to help his/her own electric/water bills at home?! They looked more like people who are living comfortably.. Unlike some students who could be struggling weekly on what to eat so as not to starve to save up the money to pay their apartment rentals or the freaking expensive school fees?! What would 500€ be those richer people when they can help someone?!
Well then, count the richer kids out if they wanna argue. Aish.. and the part where you can’t get acknowledged for your work. =_=

WHATEVER.. i’m NEVER GONNA WORK IN ANY COMPANIES IN FRANCE for internship anymore. things are kinda like so damn crappy here. I MUST find a company in Singapore, even if they give me some crappy work like image extracting to do, AT LEAST I GET PAID! It helps to cover my transport fees as well as food!

Speaking of transport, hella pissed of the trains lately, closed tracks lead to bus replacement which makes me LATE FOR SCHOOL OF CUZ! Or not, stuck in the middle of no where for 15-30mins before reaching another station!

On a lighter note, I’m loving homin’s new TONE album as well as JYJ’s In Heaven :) I refuse to call them DBSK now YADA I wish i’d be able to buy both albums, but oh well, i guess it’d take a while.
HA; ladies, gents, if you’re too bored at home, I highly recommend korean drama Protect the Boss :) It’s totally hilarious which is soo difficult to resist bursting out laughing on the train! And when i burst out laughing at home, my mother started shouting at me 8) =3
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAAA!

0 heart; Master 1
filed under: Journal, Yummiliscious Sunday, 25th September @ 6:25PM

woah, just 1 week of my first master year is gone. D: i’d say that the week was slow like hell.
remember my complains over a seriously boring/useless lesson over the two years? well; during that time, that lesson lasted for 2hours PER WEEK! this term, has 5hours of those lessons PER WEEK, i feel like dying. goodness, i hope i’d be able to make it through…

*sighss**

it has never been part of my culture to learn more about film directors, etc. in Singapore, how many of you really cared about who’s the director?! who’s the scriptwriter? who’s the visual effects director?! I doubt out of ten, only one really did that.
yet its’ totally opposite in France, everyone knew which film belongs to which director etc etc… lots of literature titles, where as I; KNOW NOTHING…
then, going ahead with image analyzing… okay, consider the fact that i don’t know how to crap. So again, i suck in image analyzing. Classmates and teachers came out with a zillions of descriptives, while I…. i only had like max 10 sentences…

worse part of the whole thing is, everyone’s gotta keep a “memoire”
a self-study book of all your image analyze for semiology- and of all things, the most-difficult teacher being assigned to that. let’s hope that i won’t fail this memoire, i got a feeling that it’d be so damn horrible TT_TT
besides that, to survive all the 5hours per week, i’m dreading it so badly!

feels like there will be a number of competition going on. i’m hoping that we (since it’s always in groups these days) will manage to win something. thinking of the 8000euros for the first price is always awesome!

now then, let me continue my photo updates!

resort world part 2

well, after all the visits, time for dinner :)

Had the urge to go back to Din Tai Fung again, somehow, it’s the same restaurant, but it’s under another name, Baits!
Spicy cucumber for linmin!

Awesome 小龙包 to share, i love the soup in it. Though dad thinks that it’s a perfectly simple dish. The downside would be that if you leave it to the aircon for too long, the bun kinda dries up and it’d be hard!

My pork ribs fried rice. I never mention before right? I love fried rice, it’s the simplest thing ever, and it tastes good. But i hate it when there’s more ingredients than rice, after all, i’m quite the 饭桶 :P

Linmin’s 嘉奖面!looks good too,

Our side greediness to order another wantan soup. Turn out that linmin finished all the 7 wantans, where i only ate 1. LOOOL; bloated tummy!

Our bill added up to $40+ The irritating parts about in restaurants is that they always add tax, service charge. I mean, can’t they hide that within the given price?! Like in France, what you see is what you pay?! Adding those tax/service charge makes the whole thing a lot more expensive. LOL; it’s a mental thing!

Going to candylicious on the way back!

HA, it looks so real, but i gotta break your bubble. THOSE sweets are fake. Just a photo printed paper inside those tubes! I think it’d be cooler with real ones!

Those cute little stuffs :)

In the end I got one of those cake knife for mum :) They are way tooo cute! They even have one for the icecream scope! But i don’t really use a scope, so saved the money for something else!
